SpeedWatch
Community Speed Watch is a partnership initiative, using the combined efforts of local residents and parish councils. By working together, Community Speed Watch enables local people to become actively involved in helping to slow down traffic in 30mph zones within their community.
Evenley Parish Council has supported SPEEDWATCH since 2012 to bring focus and awareness to users of our village roads of the speeds that we endure.
Speedwatch seeks
- to reduce excessive speed in Northamptonshire parishes within 30mph limits
- to change people’s attitudes towards speeding
- to create a safer environment
- to empower communities to work together in partnership with road safety agencies
In addition to this Evenley Parish Council has purchased a vehicle activated speed sign for use on Broad Lane and received funding from Northants PFCC for a solar panel (for the existing sign) and a new sign on Bicester Hill.
These signs show actual vehicle speeds to users in an attempt to draw attention to their excessive speed but they will not store individual vehicle information. The data can be seen below.
